Empfehlung des Tages: Morray – Quicksand
Unsere heutige Songempfehlung entführt euch in die Projects von Fayetteville, North Carolina, denn Morrays Durchbruchssong „Quicksand“ erzählt euch davon, wie es ist dort zu leben.
Während er in seinem ersten Part lamentiert, dass sein Outfit mit dem eines Obdachlosen Hand in Hand ging weil er so mittellos war, erklärt er im zweiten Part, wie das Leben im Ghetto aussieht wenn man Gepflogenheiten und Gesetze hinten anstellt: „I ain’t got no time for the fakes / the phonies, jabronies, the ops or the jakes / My homie the only who come past the gate / Im whacking the weeds, cutting heads off of snakes / I’m hungry, I’m eating right off of ya plate / I want it, I’m on it, it’s mine for the take“.

Doch obwohl der Song inhaltlich eher ernst und finster ist, wurde „Quicksand“ musikalisch sehr positiv umgesetzt, da Morray scheinbar ein ständig lächelnder Typ ist, wie das dazugehörige Video unterstreicht. Mit dieser Energie starten wir jedenfalls bestens gelaunt ins Wochenende.
